Designer, actress, farmer, mom. 

(As opposed to tinker, tailor, soldier, spy!)

     Give me a play, and I will start designing the costumes in my head as soon as I read it. I have been doing it since high school, but did not focus on it as a career until late in my undergraduate years.   As many designers do, I began life as an actress.  I loved doing plays in college, but knew I was doing it for fun not a career. However, I can still be seen on stage, occasionally. (See the photos above).

       When I went to graduate school at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, I learned about scenic design, and more wonderful to me, scenic art.  I was fortunate to study under C. Lance Brockman, well known for collecting, and preserving the work of the Twin Cities Scenic Company.  He is the best!  

      These days my desire for a healthier planet has me looking for natural fibers, or recycled materials to use in my design work.  Having three children as well as  owning a farm helps to keep me focused on designing in a greener way.  My most recent work includes using natural dye stuffs and experimenting with them in my art and design work.
